Summary

Daisy Patel is a software engineer who understands lists and logic better than bosses and boyfriends。 With her life all planned out, and no interest in love, the one thing she can't give her family is the marriage they expect。 Left with few options, she asks her childhood crush to be her decoy fiance。

Liam Murphy is a venture capitalist with something to prove。 When he learns that his inheritance is contingent on being married, he realizes his best friend's little sister has the perfect solution to his problem。 A marriage of convenience will get Daisy's matchmaking relatives off her back and fulfill the terms of his late grandfather's will。 If only he hadn't broken her tender teenage heart nine years ago。。。

Sparks fly when Daisy and Liam go on a series of dates to legitimize their fake relationship。 Too late, they realize that very little is convenient about their arrangement。 History and chemistry aren't about to follow the rules of this engagement。

Fun lighthearted comedy-romance with likable characters that touches on the childhood sore spots/traumas can create in our adult relationships, but that it’s worth it to push into that pain, heal it, and find what’s on the other side。

This was the perfect romantic comedy ❤️ Loved it。 I’m a sucker for books about fake relationships that turn into real relationships。 I loved both of the main characters and their crazy families。

A cute romance is what the doctor ordered。I enjoyed this book, but still I was a little bit disappointed by it。。。 oh well

Didn’t like Daisy in the first book。 She seemed like a different person in this one。

5。5 stars I practically devoured this book。 I didn’t want to talk to anyone, text messages were ignored, calls went unanswered, I started at 8pm and now it’s 3am and I finished reading the last sentence with a huge smile on my face。 I still love Layla and Sam from the first book so please don’t tell them that Daisy and Liam have now become my favourite couple! P/s I’m craving Indian food right now and I would give anything to meet Daisy’s aunties, I’m sure will have a grand time together!

Easy listen, heart warming at times。 But, it wasn't a fantastically heartp pounding, flutter tummy, couldn't put it down kind of read。 The main character was kind of blah。 Easy listen, heart warming at times。 But, it wasn't a fantastically heartp pounding, flutter tummy, couldn't put it down kind of read。 The main character was kind of blah。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I don't know if it was just me but this book leaned too hard into the cliche & cheese of it all。 I thought the dramatic scenes that should move the plot along fell flat。 I just didn't see the motivation for her to be sooooooo mad at Liam for a long and then simply forgive him with almost no push back every time he supposedly messed up。 Especially without asking for an explanation which her character seemed inclined to do。 The language made me cringe a few times during the speechy parts。 I am ave I don't know if it was just me but this book leaned too hard into the cliche & cheese of it all。 I thought the dramatic scenes that should move the plot along fell flat。 I just didn't see the motivation for her to be sooooooo mad at Liam for a long and then simply forgive him with almost no push back every time he supposedly messed up。 Especially without asking for an explanation which her character seemed inclined to do。 The language made me cringe a few times during the speechy parts。 I am averse to speeches though so some might find these parts endearing。 Also, Liam has some icky toxic masculinity lines that rubbed me the wrong way。 The sex scenes were alright but the dirty talk was so cheesy。 。。。more

A nice second book for this series。 Here Daisy and her dog Max are the stars。 We get to see how the Patel Aunties will spread news like wildfire and hear about more delicious food。 At the same time, we get a more clear picture of the diversity within the Indian American community, particularly when we hear about Daisy's dad and his adventures or about Daisy's deep love for and knowledge of Marvel。 We also see that not all families are intact or loving, shown through the struggles that both Liam A nice second book for this series。 Here Daisy and her dog Max are the stars。 We get to see how the Patel Aunties will spread news like wildfire and hear about more delicious food。 At the same time, we get a more clear picture of the diversity within the Indian American community, particularly when we hear about Daisy's dad and his adventures or about Daisy's deep love for and knowledge of Marvel。 We also see that not all families are intact or loving, shown through the struggles that both Liam and Daisy have to be loved by one of their parents。 Even with my aversion to venture capitalists, Liam was an intriguing lead male。 The second-chance romance vibes throughout were good, though I had to keep reminding myself that he wasn't being a creepy predator every time Daisy's senior prom was brought up。 Then combine it with fake lovers to real lovers and I was in。 Liam's struggles with his father and brother, and the combative relationship he has with them are clearly a sore point。 This marks my first time alternating between an audiobook and an e-book while reading。 Even listening at 1。5-1。75x, I think reading the chapters was faster。 An enjoyable second book in the series and I'm definitely reading the third。 3。5* rounded up。 。。。more

Trope lovers。 。 。 This ones for you! Enemies to lovers and fake dating! Also happy to see SF Bay Area and Asian Indian representation。 Seriously though, I thoroughly enjoyed this book。 The characters were great and I hope the author continues writing about this family。 Fingers crossed that a story about Sanjay is next? One small picky note。 Seems like the editor or fact checker or whoever’s job it is slipped up a few times。 The city here in the Bay Area is Fremont, not Freemont。 Also, I’m not a Trope lovers。 。 。 This ones for you! DNF - 76%。 I've said , "Are you freaking kidding me?" more times than these Grown characters talk about their prom。A fake relationship where +50% of characters are Told it's fake by the main characters, nearly All problems could've been solved with 2 minute conversations, smut that is eye rollingly bad, and here I am wishing I had picked a different book。*Spoilers*I just hit the part with the motorcycle accident and it still wasn't enough to keep me reading。 The whole book is made of cliches tha DNF - 76%。 I've said , "Are you freaking kidding me?" more times than these Grown characters talk about their prom。A fake relationship where +50% of characters are Told it's fake by the main characters, nearly All problems could've been solved with 2 minute conversations, smut that is eye rollingly bad, and here I am wishing I had picked a different book。*Spoilers*I just hit the part with the motorcycle accident and it still wasn't enough to keep me reading。 The whole book is made of cliches that tell not show and it's so aggravating to constantly be reminded of what the book is trying to be and not what it actually is。 We are supposed to see steamy bedroom scenes but they supposedly break furniture doing the most mundane things。 They are in a fake relationship that literally everyone is in on, all of their problems last less than a chapter, no one actually Talks in this book and apparently that would've saved a family from a father's abuse but after having a broken arm and a black eye the main character never thought to ask for help but wondered why no one helped him and blamed his family for his issues the Entire book。 Yes there are some people who go through this same situation for fear of retaliation, but this guy Literally says the Entire book "why didn't they know? I hate them。 That's ridiculous。 No one came to help us and I have to save my mom" YOU DIDNT SAY ANYTHING SO THEY DIDNT KNOW! This story is very cute and I did enjoy small parts of it。 Both of the family dynamics were both hilarious and handled so well。 They were where I felt the heart of this story。 Where I wanted to feel the heart, though, was with the two main characters。 They had personalities, sure, but they didn’t feel like dynamic characters to me。 Being obsessed with Marvel isn’t a personality-trait and every time it was brought up I think it was meant to be cute but to me was just a huge neon ‘no。’ They relied This story is very cute and I did enjoy small parts of it。 Both of the family dynamics were both hilarious and handled so well。 They were where I felt the heart of this story。 Where I wanted to feel the heart, though, was with the two main characters。 They had personalities, sure, but they didn’t feel like dynamic characters to me。 Being obsessed with Marvel isn’t a personality-trait and every time it was brought up I think it was meant to be cute but to me was just a huge neon ‘no。’ They relied too heavily on quirks and flowed into the spaces that were clearly waiting for them in ways that felt too polished and unrealistic。 A lot of the writing and dialogue is so, so cheesy and some times just too heavy-handed for me。 Any time a character gives a heartfelt spiel it feels inorganic and like they’re trying to make their feelings clear in an unrealistic way。 Like half the time I was rolling my eyes it the kind of dialogue choices that would make great end prose in an overdone YA novel。 There was also this issue I had, specifically at the beginning, where Daisy was obsessed with hating him because he’d stood her up for prom (by the end it was obvious it was more than that, but the way it’s written drove me mad) where I kept wondering if she was still 17 and not in her late 20s。 Also Liam’s constant insistence that she’s the only woman he could ever love and all of his pity parties were more annoying to me than endearing。 This book also does that thing I hate where one character has done “something horrible” in the past that’s a secret and therefore they keep mentioning it or thinking of it in the narrative, but since it’s still a secret the reader isn’t allowed to know what this past even they’re obsessing over is either。 God, I hate that。 It works sometimes, I’m sure, but I see it so often and it’s so frustrating to be left in the dark。 It doesn’t build tension for me, not like the dramatic irony of knowing would。 I did like the apparent character growth between who they were at the beginning and who they were by the end, I just wish that I’d actually FELT that growth instead。 All in all it’s an okay fake relationship story if you dig cheesy and sometimes overwrought writing choices (and as much as I want to like these things, I just don’t)。 If you’re just reading for the ride and don’t care about all the technical details, this definitely has a lot of appealing elements and quite a few very steamy sections。 It was interesting enough that, despite all my issues with it, I couldn’t bring myself to DNF it。 。。。more

A diverse cast, nerdy protagonist, childhood friends to lovers, mutual pining, and fake dating is a solid formula for a cute romance story, and this book was definitely cute。 I thought it was a little over the top with the quirky nerd amped up on high and there could have been a lot more depth if the author wanted to better explore neurodivergent characters or interracial relationships。 That plus the iconic bad communication when its really needed (despite an otherwise pretty healthy track recor A diverse cast, nerdy protagonist, childhood friends to lovers, mutual pining, and fake dating is a solid formula for a cute romance story, and this book was definitely cute。 I thought it was a little over the top with the quirky nerd amped up on high and there could have been a lot more depth if the author wanted to better explore neurodivergent characters or interracial relationships。 That plus the iconic bad communication when its really needed (despite an otherwise pretty healthy track record of good communication) made the story feel a little surface level。3。5 stars, but still a fun, fast-paced romcom read。(Also I can't tell if 'the flow' is a term the author really thinks programmers use as an equivalent to something like 'in the zone'。。。 or if it's a tampon/pad joke she never explicitly capitalized on。) 。。。more

The Dating Plan never quite worked for me。 I love the ideas in theory, but I wasn't really the right reader for this one, starting with the many years of mutual pining and misunderstandings。 There are absolutely readers who love those tropes, but I'm not one of them, and I struggled from the start to understand the choices that Daisy and Liam made。 Why was she still so mad specifically about Prom? I agree with her dad that the bigger issue is that he didn't tell them what was going on and that he ran away without a word, not Prom。 There are also so many little moments of melodrama, which, again, is a delight to many people but not for me。 Examples: (view spoiler)[The motorcycle accident! no princípio, eu gostei do desenvolvimento dos personagens e das suas histórias。 a única coisa que me incomodou foi o fechamento, foi rápido demais e atropelou tudo。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I was so excited about this book since the main character is an Indian woman in her 20s working in tech and falls in love with an annoying (but handsome) white guy - which is literally my life。 The premise showed so much promise but I think I disliked almost every aspect of this book。 Pros: 1。 The author makes a POC the star of a steamy romance which is seldom done in most forms of western media。 2。 She really knows her desi food。 Cons: 1。 This isn’t written in the eloquently comedic style I was I was so excited about this book since the main character is an Indian woman in her 20s working in tech and falls in love with an annoying (but handsome) white guy - which is literally my life。 The premise showed so much promise but I think I disliked almost every aspect of this book。 Pros: 1。 The author makes a POC the star of a steamy romance which is seldom done in most forms of western media。 2。 She really knows her desi food。 Cons: 1。 This isn’t written in the eloquently comedic style I was anticipating from such a hyped adult rom-com。 Instead, this read as if written by someone who only recently completed their first figurative language class。 2。 If I hear the author define Daisy as “quirky” one more time, I’m going to implode。 And stop personifying Liam’s manliness as “growls。” It’s just weird。 3。 The plot is predicable and the “twists” the author tries to introduce fall flat。 There is nothing exciting going on here。 4。 NSFW: OK WOW I guarantee you that men do not say these things during sex:• “And your skin。。。Christ, it shimmers like gold” 🤮 • “Promise me not to move。 I love you like this, spread out on the bed for me like a delicious treat”☠️• Unironically calling a woman a “Temptress” 🤐5。 A grown woman should not be so bitter about her PROM night experience 10 years ago。 What a ridiculous thing to internalize and seethe over。 。。。more
